George Amos Memorial Building, Gillette

The March meeting of the Campbell County Democratic Party was called to order by Chairwoman Heidi Kennedy at 6:05 pm. Eight people were present including Heidi.

The Pledge of Allegiance was affirmed, and introductions were made.

The meeting agenda was passed out and approved.

The acting Secretary, Karin Ebertz, summarized the minutes of the February meeting for those who had not had a chance to read them. Meeting minutes are available on the CCDP website: campbell.wyodems.net.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Heidi Kennedy as acting treasurer reported on donations.

Announcements from the Chair:

  • Heidi mentioned that she’s slowly growing her email contact list for sending out a monthly newsletter.
  • With social media posts, we’re encouraged to interact or share posts so more people will see them.

Old Business:

  • Adopt-a-Highway: The Highway Dept. will get back to Heidi.  Our section might be out by the airport.
  • Adopt-a-City-Planter: Sharon Norfolk will follow up on this.
  • P.O. Box – Our mailing address is P.O. Box 121, Gillette, WY 82717.
  • Bank account – We don’t have one yet.  Heidi’s going to contact Campco FCU once we are cleared to set one up.
  • Tabling at Gillette College Career Fair – We don’t have materials from the state yet, so we’re not doing it this year.

New Business:

  • Events this month:  Various public board meetings were listed on the agenda for anyone to add to their calendar.
  • Party elections – The following people volunteered for open positions:

  • Chair – Heidi Kennedy
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary – Karin Ebertz
  • Treasurer
  • State Committeeman
  • State Committeewoman – Brenda Kirk

All were voted upon and elected to their preferred positions.

Announcements from the floor:

  • Lynne Huskinson asked if we have talked to the Sheridan Democrats as they have a good following.  Heidi responded that we would like to get together with some other NE Wyoming county parties.
  • There was a discussion of how best to reach people.  Word of mouth, Gillette NewsRecord calendar, and visibility at events seemed to be the most agreed upon methods.
  • Candidate recruitment:  If you know anyone who might be willing to run for office, please talk to them, and let Heidi know too.
  • The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, 6 PM at the George Amos Building, downtown Gillette.  Becky Morrison volunteered to take minutes as Karin will be gone.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Karin Ebertz

Secretary
