We must demand transparency, adherence to due process in all proceedings

The deportation and imprisonment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should deeply concern every American who values the Constitution. This action appears to bypass the fundamental right to due process, a cornerstone of our legal system, and we cannot afford to ignore the dangerous precedent it sets.

The Fifth and 14th Amendments clearly guarantee that no person within our jurisdiction shall be deprived of liberty without fair legal proceedings. Mr. Abrego Garcia’s case raises serious questions about whether these guarantees were upheld. When due process is disregarded for one individual, it weakens the protections afforded to all of us. The Constitution is not a document to be selectively applied or ignored based on political will.
