The Campbell County Democratic Party is committed to fostering a thriving, equitable, and sustainable community for all residents. Guided by the core values of the Wyoming Democratic Party—opportunity, sustainability, and integrity—our 2024 platform addresses the unique challenges and opportunities facing Campbell County, ensuring a proactive approach to local governance and a brighter future for our families, workers, and businesses.

I. Economy, Jobs, and Diversification

We believe in a diversified and resilient economy that provides good-paying jobs and opportunities for all Campbell County residents. While recognizing the critical role of the energy industry, we advocate for strategic investments and policies that:

  • Support Energy Transition & Innovation: Champion responsible development of traditional energy resources while actively exploring and investing in new energy technologies and carbon capture initiatives to secure long-term economic stability and environmental stewardship in Campbell County.
  • Promote Economic Diversification: Encourage the growth of new industries and small businesses beyond traditional energy sectors, fostering a more robust and varied job market. This includes supporting local entrepreneurship and attracting diverse businesses to reduce the impact of boom-and-bust cycles.
  • Strengthen Workforce Development: Invest in vocational training, community college programs, and skill-building initiatives that equip our workforce for evolving economic landscapes, ensuring residents have access to high-quality, living-wage jobs and addressing the local need for qualified workers.
  • Address Cost of Living: Work to mitigate the impacts of inflation and rising costs of goods and services, particularly on housing and essential needs, to ensure Campbell County remains an affordable place to live and raise a family. We advocate for policies that address housing scarcity and the burden of housing costs on residents.

II. Fairness & Equality

We believe in fostering an inclusive society where every individual in Campbell County has the chance to thrive, free from discrimination. We support:

  • Equal Opportunity: Advocating for policies that ensure equal opportunities in employment, housing, and public services for all residents, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or background.
  • Protection of Rights: Upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals, ensuring fair treatment and access to resources for every member of our community.

III. Good Government Practices

We believe in transparent, accountable, and responsive government that actively engages with its citizens and serves the public interest. We advocate for:

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Promote sound financial management and responsible budgeting at the county level, ensuring efficient use of taxpayer dollars and long-term fiscal health for Campbell County.

  • Supporting Rural Healthcare: Advocate for policies that strengthen our local healthcare infrastructure, including Campbell County Health, and address the challenges of providing specialized care in a rural setting, minimizing the need for residents to travel long distances for services.
  • Lowering Prescription Drug Costs: Support measures that reduce the cost of prescription drugs, making essential medications more affordable for everyone.

We believe in a fully funded, high-quality public education system that prepares every student for success in life, career, and civic engagement. We support:

  • Adequate and Equitable Funding: Advocate for state and local funding models that fully meet the actual costs of providing a quality education in Campbell County School District, ensuring competitive teacher salaries and sufficient resources for all programs, addressing the dramatic decrease in qualified applicants.
  • Recruitment and Retention of Educators: Implement strategies to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and staff, addressing the challenges of staffing shortages and ensuring smaller class sizes and robust educational offerings in Campbell County schools.
  • Comprehensive Student Support: Champion programs that address the holistic needs of students, including mental health services, vocational training, and diverse educational pathways that prepare them for a variety of post-graduation opportunities.
  • Safe and Modern Facilities: Ensure that our school facilities are well-maintained, safe, and conducive to learning, with adequate capital funding to support necessary repairs, renovations, and new construction, as facility issues can impede educational quality.
